Leota Faye Shay, age 71 of Ripley, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014.
in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Mehan Union Church in Ripley. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ripley, Ok.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.
Leota was born on September 22, 1943 in Lampe, Missouri to Ralph and Goldie (Jones) Stiles.
She grew up and attended school in Lampe, Missouri, moving to Ripley where she also attended school. Leota moved to New Mexico where she met her future husband Harry Shay.
They married on June 4, 1960 in Old Mexico. They lived in New Mexico for a few years before moving back to Ripley. She worked with her father at Earl’s Gibble Gas then opened the Chicken Hut in Ripley. Leota later began working for Braum’s and retired after seventeen years to take care of her mother. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and garage sales. Leota loved spending time with her family.
Leota is survived by her son Rusty Shay and wife Evelyn of Ripley, daughter Deaunna Thomas and husband Steve of Cushing, brother Alfred Stiles and wife Pat of Yale, sister Leona Stiles of Ripley, mother Goldie Stiles of Ripley, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Ralph Stiles, daughter Rhonda Hogsett, sister Novella Lineberry, and late husband Harry Shay.
