Lee R. Hooper, age 63 of Bristow, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Lee was born on November 12, 1944 in Cushing to the late William and Ola Mae (Houston) Hooper.

He grew up in Cushing and attended Cushing High School graduating in 1963. He lived in Dodge City, Kansas for a couple of years moving to Wichita, Kansas for ten years. Lee worked for Halsey and Tevis Construction in Kansas. Lee and his family moved to Bristow in 1974, where he enjoyed working on the farm. He liked taking care of the pigs and cattle and other farm animals. Lee worked for Green Country Interiors in Tulsa for twenty years. He was very active in his children’s 4-H and other sporting events.

Lee enjoyed being a part of their activities. He also liked to Country Dance. Lee loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many events.

Survivors include his son Tim Hooper of Bristow, daughters Sondra Huckaby and husband Biff of Owasso, Marsha Skinner and husband Dan of Sand Springs, brothers George Lewis Hooper and wife Shirley of Carthage, Mo., Raymond Jack Hooper and wife Dean of Wichita, Ks., Melvin Wayne Hooper and wife Shirley of Wichita, Ks., sisters Cora Marie Thompson and husband J.L. of Oklahoma City, Ok., Francis Louise Grubb of Tyler, Tx., five grandchildren Brittany Horn, Matthew Skinner, Jacob Skinner, Cami Huckaby and Kaycie Huckaby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Danielle Skinner, brothers Elbert Carrol “Bud” Hooper and Jimmy Clarence “Jim” Hooper.
