Lawrence “Pip” Pippenger celebrated his 98th birthday on Feb. 13, 2010 with family and friends. The two-day celebration started on Saturday, Pip’s actual birthday, and continued through Sunday, Feb. 14th. He received many cards and wishes and even a special citation from Representative Lee Denney in honor of his birthday.
The theme of both celebrations was bowling – a sport Pip enjoyed for many years and continues to enjoy via a Wii bowling game. He and his wife, Ann, bowl at least 3 games each day, competing for the best overall score. They met and married 24 years ago while playing on the Senior Citizen bowling league.
Pippenger was born and raised in Cushing and is still able to share many of those memories with family and friends. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge and received an honor last year for his 65 years of service. He worked many years at Cushing Post Office.
He has two children Donna Wagle, Tulsa and David Pippenger, Baltimore, MD and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
