Larry E. Sherwood, a Cushing resident and business owner, entered the presence of his Lord on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 64 years.
Funeral Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK and will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Drumright, OK. Interment will follow in the Flynn Cemetery, south west of Cushing. The Sherwood family will be greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the funeral home.
The son of the late George Elmer Sherwood and Mahala Evelyn (Pipes) Sherwood, Larry was born on September 14, 1944 in Milan, Missouri. Larry was united in marriage to Joyce Simmons on November 8, 1964 in Linneus, Missouri. While living in Missouri, Larry worked as a homebuilder with Sherwood Construction. In 1981 the Sherwood’s moved to Drumright and later to Cushing in 1990. After moving to Cushing, Larry and his wife owned and operated J & L Builders and in January 2006 purchased Cedarline Woodworks. Larry was a true craftsman in every sense. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed fishing, solitaire, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Joyce of the home; sons Carl Sherwood and wife Andrea of Cushing and Chris Sherwood and wife Julie of Drumright; daughters Laura Renfrow and husband Kyle of Hunter, OK, Leda Grimm and husband Daren of Cushing, Lena Pfannenstiel and husband Dan of Leavenworth, KS, Katrina McCroskey and husband Mark of Ft. Gibson, OK, Daphne Brown and husband Rodney of Olive, OK, Amy Norton and husband Chris of Drumright, and Kara Sherwood of Drumright; brother Harvey Sherwood and wife Beverly of Brookfield, MO; sister June Owens and husband Robert of Marshfield, MO, eighteen grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
