A balanced Perkins team stood tall on their home field Thursday night sticking it to the now (1-7) Chandler Lions. The balanced attack of the Perkins Demons used there talented running game to wear down the Lions defense.
Turnovers were the key factor in Thursday’s game for the Lions as they turned the ball over 4 times by fumbles. The game seemed to lag on as the two teams accounted for 20 penalties, which was a surprise seeing the two teams are normally very fundamentally sound. The Lions were able to get on the scoreboard however, with 30 second left in the game quarterback Chance Rich threw a strike in the end zone to Matt James for the only touchdown in the game for the Lions. The touchdown was the first for James on the season and by far has been the best catch all season long by a wide receiver.
The Chandler Lions will try and put this one behind them and go home for senior night to take on the Bethel Wildcats who are (2-5) on the year! The Chandler Lions must win their next two games in order to have a shot at making the playoffs this year, but help will be needed throughout district play if the Lions do win their next two games.
