Oklahoma City — Governor Brad Henry today appointed Steve Kistler of Stillwater as Associate District Judge for the 9th Judicial District in Payne County. Kistler succeeds Robert M. Murphy Jr., who recently resigned.
Gov. Henry praised Kistler’s qualifications.
“Steve Kistler will be an excellent district judge,” the Governor said. “He possesses the integrity, temperament and breadth of experience essential to be a truly outstanding jurist. It is my pleasure to make this appointment to the bench.”
The Governor selected Kistler from three candidates whose names were submitted by the Judicial Nominating Commission.
Kistler graduated Oklahoma State University in 1972 and earned his juris doctor from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1976. Kistler was employed by the FBI in New Orleans and New York City before becoming an assistant district attorney in Payne County.
