Kathryn Louise Martinez, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 73. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.,Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Chapel of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma.

Kathryn was born on July 28, 1941 in Davidson, Arkansas to the late James Albert and Mabel (Hopkins) Franklin. She grew up in Drumright, graduating from Drumright High School in 1958. Kathryn married Elmo Martinez on December 19, 1958 in Corcoran, California. She was a nurse and also a caregiver to many in the family. Kathryn liked to ride motorcycles, travel, camp, ceramics and later in life, Elmo and Kathryn enjoyed quilting. She bowled for 35 years in Cushing on a league.Kathryn loved spending time with her family.

Kathryn is survived by her son Jim Martinez of Skiatook, Ok., daughters Anita Smith and husband Mick of Mannford, Kimberly Halford and husband Calvin of Stroud, grandchildrenBrooks Martinez, Jamie Cloud, Will Cook, Zach Cook and wife Abby, Crystal and husband Tyler Yoas, Jeremy Halford, and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
