Joseph Francis Ligon of Chandler, Oklahoma passed away on March 16, 2014 at the age of 84.

     Services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma.

     He was born July 18, 1929 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Willie Fleming and Lizzy (Waverly) Ligon Overby, Joseph attended School in Richmond and graduated in 1947, after high school Joseph joined the United States Navy and served from 1948 to 1952, after being Honorably discharged from the Navy, Joseph married the love of his life Rosella Mae (Hauge) Ligon on November 5, 1952. To this union one son was born, Joseph Franklin Ligon, soon after Joseph adopted two daughters Kathie Yehle and Janet Kiser. Joseph loved working with his hands; he was employed by Woodall Industries for many years, before becoming self-employed as a contractor.

     Joseph loved building play houses and bridges for children, he enjoyed seeing the labors of his hands on the faces of those who played in play houses he built. Due to his health the last play house Joseph built was in October 2013. Joseph was loved by many and self adopted daughter Rebecca Cox was at his side holding his hand at the time he drew his last breath of this world.

     Joseph is survived by one son, Joseph Franklin Ligon of California, two daughters Janet Kiser and husband Steve of California, Kathie Yehle and husband Bob of California, one self-adopted daughter Rebecca Lynn Cox of Chandler, one brother Edward Ligon of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, little sister Cottie Link, of Richmond, Virginia.

Joseph is preceded in death by his Parents, multiple siblings and his loving wife of 57 years, Rosella Mae Ligon.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday March 21, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler Oklahoma.
