(Cushing, Okla.)  John Moreland is said to be “one of the bright, young Oklahoma songwriters carrying on Woody Guthrie’s legacy.”  Moreland will be the featured guest of John Cooper at the Third Thursday music event at the Cushing Country Club, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 7 p.m.

Although born in Texas, Moreland moved to Tulsa at age 10 and is  considered a native.  He was a part of the Black Gold Band from 2006-2010 and has several albums to his credit.  In 2010 he was featured on the multi-musician studio project The Seven Degrees of Stephen Egerton.  His current album, “In The Throes,” is being hailed as music for “sitting back with your favorite beverage and listening with your heart on your sleeve.”
