John Charles (J.C.) Swart was born on January 6, 1926 to Albert Lewis and Crochia Pracilla Poston Swart in Creek County in the Mannford area. J. C. attended Eureka and Cottonwood Grammar School. He later attended Olive School District where he graduated in 1945.
He married Madie May Zickefoose in 1952, to this union two sons were born Charles Albert and William Gene. He was employed by Brady Brothers Well Service. In 1956, he then became employed with Flint Steel Company. He was a member of the Local 592 until 1961 when he became foreman. He then withdrew from the Union. He later retired from Flint Steel Company. In the 1980’s, he worked as a permit agent for Seismograph Service Company (SSC). J. C. enjoyed several hobbies. He rode his motorcycle well into his late seventies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to mushroom hunt. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his family and sure loved to bask in the glory of winning. His family jokingly called him “The foreman” as he stayed on top of all the happenings or “The great Private Eye”. J. C. also helped his son with his mothers farming operations as she was out of state. He enjoyed spending time with his buddies at Jiffy Trip, drinking coffee and telling stories. J. C. loved spending time with his great grandchildren.
J. C. is survived by his son Charles Swart and wife Deena of Jennings, dear friend Madie Hobson of Cleveland, brother Bill Swart and wife Betty of Oilton, sisters Jewel Crawley and husband Don of Gravitte, Ark., Imogene Kirkpatrick and husband Tom of Skeedee, Ok., Cora Lee Nieffer and husband Art of Glendire, Mt., eight grandchildren Darla Champlain, Paula Thurman, Jessie Swart, Jonathan Ballard, Kimberly Swart, Jason Swart, Jared Swart and Sharlee Swart, great grandchildren Trey, Emily and Jacob Hightower, Christopher Cox, Raven and Trey Thurman, Brittany, Bryleigh, Brynnlyn and Braxdyn Swart, Keylee and Elishia Ballard and finally Sophie Swart, who was born on J. C. ‘s birthday this year. J. C. also left behind numerous relatives and close dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Crochia Swart, son William Swart and great granddaughter Pale Shelton.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday at the First Baptist Church in Terlton.
Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel in Mannford.
