(STILLWATER, OKLA.) – Stan Clark Companies generated $27,000 to benefit United Way of Payne County through its annual golf tournament on May 8 in Perkins.

Kendra Burtrum, event organizer, combined the tournament with an online auction and opportunities for donations, to raise the amount.

The event began with a kick-off lunch provided by Mexico Joe’s, where attendees could also mingle and view auction items.

Afterward, 21 teams of four took to the course for a four-man scramble. Sponsors set up in various locations on the course to engage with golfers with refreshments, giveaways and games. This included a plumbing company, which placed a toilet on the course inspiring photo opportunities.

“Many reported it was our most fun golf tourney,” Burtrum said in an email.

At the end of the tournament, winners were announced. Mike Schaller, on the BancFirst team, claimed the first hole-in-one win in years. BancFirst also placed 1st among all of the teams.

Additionally, Stillwater Medical Center came in 1st on the B bracket, Laken Holzer won “Longest Drive #14”, Terry Carpenter won “Closest to the Pin #2” and “Chipping Winner #15.”

United Way of Payne County and its 22 partners also succeeded, when it was presented with a check, which will go to helping the community. The amount surpassed those of recent years.

This is the 43rd year Stan Clark, Eskimo Joe’s founder, and his employees have supported United Way of Payne County’s mission to decrease poverty, support education and improve the health and safety of its residents.
