Jimmie A. Skinner, a longtime Cushing resident and former Dispatcher for the Yale Police Department, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 69 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in the First Baptist Church, Yale with Brother Mich Dershem officiating. Burial will follow in the Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, OK.
Visitation will be held at the Yale Palmer Marler Funeral Home beginning at 3:00 p.m., Saturday June 21.
The son of the late Lura M. Skinner and Fannie (Isaacs) Skinner, Jimmie was born on November 1, 1938 in Yale. He was reared and educated in the Yale area, graduating from Norfolk High School and eventually from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. Jimmie was a self employed electronics technician before becoming a dispatcher for the Yale Police Department in 1998.
His family will remember Jimmie as being a very witty man, fun loving , who loved to harass his family. Jimmie’s grandson Blake was the apple of his eye and Jimmie loved to tell everyone about him.
Survivors include two sons, John Skinner and his wife Kym of Yale and Jerry Skinner and his wife Shanna of Yale; three grandsons, Blake Skinner, Cody Skinner, and Michael Skinner all of Yale; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Marie Bolerjack and her husband Austin of Berryville, AR and Lela Harmer and her husband John of Tulsa, OK; one brother Marvin Skinner and his wife Terry of Cushing; one sisters-in-law Opal Gayhart of Yale and one brother-in-law Aaron “Blue” Archer of Cushing; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Freda Womack, Helen Prichett, and Doris Archer and three brothers, Weldon Skinner, Herb Skinner, and Clarence Skinner preceded Jimmie in death.
