James “Jim” Mason Hubbard, a Cushing area resident and member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cushing, passed away early Monday, May 30, 2011 at the age of 63 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 in the First Assembly of God Church in Cushing with Pastor Robert Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
The son of James Robert Hubbard and Zaila (Blackburn) Hubbard, Jim was born on August 11, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN. As a child Jim moved with his family to Clearwater, Fl. where they lived for several years before returning to Indianapolis where he graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School. He then attended Indiana University where he earned his degree in early education, teaching in middle school and in elementary. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army.
On January 18, 1967 Jim was united in marriage to Deborah Inlow in Indianapolis, IN and to this union two children, James and Brandy were born. Jim and Deborah eventually moved to Virginia in 1978 and then to Oklahoma in December of 2000 to be closer to their family.
Many will remember Jim for his service as the Pastor’s secretary at the First Assembly of God until 2010. He also worked at the Cushing Library until 2009 and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, reading, and photography.
Survivors include his wife Deborah of the home; one daughter, Brandy Allen and her husband Ronnie of Cary, NC; one son, James Michael Hubbard of Guthrie, OK; two brothers, John Hubbard and his wife Rita of Yale and Tom Hubbard of Indianapolis, IN; one grandson, Luke Mason Hubbard; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
