Jack Elba Tiger, a former Cushing resident now of Bossier City, LA, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the age of 82 years.
Traditional Sac & Fox burial rights have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Tiger Cemetery (2½ miles north of Highway 33 on Euchee Valley Road).
The son of the late Elba Tiger and Florence (Conger) Tiger, Jack was born on September 12, 1926 in Cushing. He was reared and educated in Payne County, graduating from Yale High School.
Following high school, Jack entered into the Unites States Navy and eventually served in the United States Air Force. In 1968 Jack was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base and made his home their after his retirement. He was united in marriage to Maxine Hasty on April 30, 1972.
When Jack was younger he enjoyed riding bulls. He also enjoyed working with wood and anything related to flying. Jack was actually in the process of getting his pilot’s license before his wife had gotten sick.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Shawnda Flores and her husband Larry of Bossier City, LA, Sherry Tiger-Dennis and her husband Jeremy of Benton, LA, and Jackie Jones and her husband Jim of Anchorage, AK; two sons, Jack Tiger of Anchorage, AK and Andrew Tiger of Bossier City, LA; three sisters, Dorothy Tiger of Albuquerque, NM, Yvonne Goodeagle and her husband Juanarvizu of Cushing and Corrine Tsoodle of Cushing; one brother, Herschel Tiger of Stroud, OK; five grandchildren, Chris Jones, Corey Jones, Katy Tiger, Valencia Flores, and Olivia Flores; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, one brother, Lloyd Tiger preceded Jack in death.
