Irene S. Gonzalis, longtime Cushing resident, passed away early Saturday morning, October 17, 2015 in the Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 74 years.

The daughter of the late Frank Duck and Luvice Swimmer Duck, Irene was born on October 26, 1940 in Stillwell, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in the Stillwell and Tahlequah area.

Irene had worked as a nurse’s aide for many years, spending most of those years with the Drumright Nursing Home.

She loved her family, especially spending time with two of her great-grandchildren, Allie Belle and Lakota Rogers. She enjoyed shooting pool, sewing, working crossword puzzles and making everyone around her laugh and have a good time.

She is survived by her children, Trish Gonzalis of Tulsa, Lucille Strader of Cushing, Sue Helen Bunch of Stillwell, and Charles Bruce Gonzalis of Cushing; her siblings, Narcy Kawon of Oklahoma City, Frances Thomas of Stillwell, Douglas Duck of Waxahachie, Texas and Linda Young of Stillwell; her longtime boyfriend and companion Kevin Jackson; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jody Dean Gonzalis and Kenneth Gonzalis; one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Clouse officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale.
