(Stillwater, Okla.) — An investigation was continuing today into a Friday night accident in Stillwater between a car and a motorcycle that took the life of 19-year-old Christopher Dylan Howerton of Stillwater, Police Lt. Kyle Bruce said in a news release.
Stillwater police responded to an injury accident in the 4500 block of W. 6th Avenue at 8:39 pm Friday that involved a vehicle and a motorcycle driven by Howerton, the news release said.
“The initial investigation determined a car failed to yield from a private drive and pulled out in front of a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver did not have time to react sufficiently and struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.
“The collision caused both occupants of the motorcycle to be thrown from the bike,” the news release said.
The motorcycle driver, who was not wearing his helmet, and his passenger, who was wearing a helmet, were transported by LifeNet to Stillwater Medical Center, the news release said.
The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival at the hospital, the news release said.
No other injuries were reported, the news release said.
