(Stillwater, Okla.) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports an injury accident occurred on 68th Street (.4 of a mile east of Jardot) at 12:59 (a.m.) today. (The accident happened 4 miles north of Perkins, Oklahoma in Payne County.)
Mario Dwight Smith (44) of Stillwater the driver of the 1997 Ford F 150 was headed eastbound on 68th Street when the Ford he was driving departed the roadway to the right. Smith then over corrected and the Ford departed the roadway to the right a second time prior to striking a utility pole guide wire and rolling an unknown number of times coming to rest on its wheels.
The driver of the Ford was taken to Stillwater Medical Center and then by LifeNet Ambulance to Oklahoma City (OU Medical Center) where he was admitted in stable condition. One of the passengers in Smith’s vehicle Mario Dwight Smith (24) was taken by a private vehicle to Stillwater Medical Center where he was treated and released. A second and unknown passenger in the Ford fled the scene.
According to OHP reports the cause of the accident was DUI-Alcohol.
Air-bags were deployed in the Ford.
