(Cushing) – The Loves’ Excelling Way Homeless Shelter in Cushing is asking for assistance from the public in meeting expenses. Director Dorothy Harrison says the shelter is having difficulty meeting expenses for the current month, and needs assistance.
The Organization has been operating in Cushing for five years, and will hold an open house March 15th at the shelter location at 315 N. Depot.
Loves’ Excelling way operates on donations from individuals, organizations, businesses, churches, private grants and fund raisers, and does not receive any government funding.
Harrison told KUSH today that she does not make public pleas except in times of absolute need. Harrison notes that the shelter does not have paid employees, everyone associated with the shelter is a volunteer, and that all funds donated go to shelter needs.
Loves’ Excelling Way is a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, and donations are tax deductable.

Harrison says the shelter currently has four people housed, and has had as many as 17. It has a capacity of 23. She says expenses run about $1000.00 per month.
