(OKLAHOMA CITY) -‘Tis the season to fight hunger in Oklahoma through the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Holiday Match! Through Jan. 15, all donations are matched, up to $350,000 thanks to APMEX and the Cresap Family Foundation.
“Service is a way of life at APMEX. We are proud to be a part of the movement where no one in Oklahoma goes hungry,” said APMEX CEO Ken Lewis. “I grew up knowing hunger which motivates me to help others who face those same struggles. I am proud to be a part of a company that wants to ensure that our community is taken care of.”
Oklahomans continue to feel the impact of supply chain issues and inflation. As temperatures drop during the winter rising food costs could be enough to force Oklahomans between having food on their table or keeping their heater on.
“The Holiday Match offers a unique opportunity for Oklahomans to double the impact of their donations. We are so grateful to APMEX and the Cresap Family Foundation for making the match possible,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “It is imperative that we help put food on the table for the thousands of Oklahomans living with hunger in central and western Oklahoma this holiday season.”
A $1 donation to the Holiday Match campaign helps the Regional Food Bank provide eight meals to residents living with food insecurity. Once the match is met, $1 still helps to provide four meals.
The match helps Oklahomans like Victoria. Victoria recently gave birth to her second child and chose to stay at home to take care of her newborn, leaving the family to survive only on her husband’s income. To help make ends meet, she began shopping at Skyline Food & Resource Center in Oklahoma City.
“I hope this is temporary. We’re still struggling a bit,” Victoria said. “The food we receive really helps take the stress off your shoulders.”
