(Cushing)- The Cushing City Commission has a new member, and the Commission has a new Chairman after the annual Organization of the board yesterday at Cushing City Hall.
Jim Hogrefe was sworn in as Commissioner for Office No. 5, replacing Lynda Smith who he defeated in the April 1st election. After Hogrefe received the oath of office and took his seat among commissioners, he nominated Fellow Commissioner Evert Rossiter to be Chairman, but the motion died for lack of a second. Joe Manning, Jr. then nominated John Henckel for Chairman and the motion was approved on a 4-1 vote with Rossiter voting no.
Commissioner Tommy Johnson then nominated Joe Manning, Jr. to serve as Vice Chairman, and again the motion was approved on a 4-1 vote with Rossiter voting no.
Henckel and Manning will also serve as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the related entities of the Commission, the Municipal Authority, the Industrial Authority and the Cushing Hospital Authority.
