Harold Dean Wright, age 76 of Chandler, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at his home in Chandler.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Parkland Church of the Firstborn, Parkland.  Brother Randall Wright will officiate.   Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland.

Harold was born on September 28, 1933 in Springdale, Arkansas to the late Oscar Howard and Minnie Gladys (Cox) Wright.  He grew up in Springdale, Arkansas and attended Choctaw High School.  Harold served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  Harold married Virginia Carol Deffenbaugh on July 10, 1954 in Oklahoma City.  She preceded him in death in 1987.  Harold married Gearl “Sis” Britton on December 16, 1989 in Parkland.  He worked for the Civil Aviation Administration/Federal Aviation Administration as the Oklahoma City Flight Standards District Office Manager, retiring in 1990 after thirty eight years of service.  Following his retirement, Harold taught for the FAA Academy at Will Rogers World Airport for ten years.  After teaching, he started Wright Aviation where he imported and exported airplanes as an Airworthiness Representative with the FAA.  Harold received many accolades and awards from the Department of Transportation and the FAA for his services, traveled to various places including Egypt, Hong Kong, Portugal, Philippines, South Korea, Netherlands, and Chili for business, and served as expert witness on avionic legal cases.  He remained active with his business until his death.  Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and traveling the world with “Sis”. 

 

Harold is survived by his wife Gearl “Sis” Wright of the home, daughter Susan Carol Nevolas of Midwest City, sons Steve Wright and wife Dianna of Choctaw, Paul Wright and wife Kelly of Norman, daughters Keila Daves and husband Roger of Dove Creek, CO, Dena Joe Bromley and husband Scott of Davenport, and son Aaron Britton and wife Tiffany of Walters, sister Barbara Cramer and husband Gene of Choctaw, grandchildren Scott Cummings, Joshua Wright, Jacob Wright, Lucas Wright, Lindsey Wright Asher and husband Chase, Laura Wright, Brandi Daves Hocker and husband Tim, Chance Daves, Michael Daves, Blaine Daves, Zachary Bromley, Anna Bromley, Olivia Bromley, Madilyn Britton, Emma Britton, Ruthie Britton, two great grandchildren Braycen Hocker and Tayven Hocker, nieces and nephews. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Virginia Wright, and brother Eugene (Buddy) Wright.
