(Cushing, Okla.) According to Cushing City Manager Steve Spears, the brief power outage in Cushing on Monday afternoon was caused by a “glitch” in GRDA’s system. “It was only a brief power outage and GRDA has us immediately back on,” Spears told KUSH. As of Tuesday morning, Spears had no further information as to what may have been the cause on GRDA’s end.
“The Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) is an agency of the state of Oklahoma, created by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1935 to be a “conservation and reclamation district for the waters of the Grand River.”
Headquartered in Vinita, Oklahoma, the Grand River Dam Authority is a non-appropriated state agency, fully funded by revenues from the sale of electricity and water instead of tax dollars.
GRDA generates, transmits and sells electricity to Oklahoma municipalities, electric cooperatives and industrial customers, as well as off-system customers across a four-state region.
GRDA manages over 70,000 surface acres of water in Northeast Oklahoma.” To learn more visit their website: www.grda.com
