He’s been nominated, now he needs help with sponsorships.  Eric Cannon, grandson of Mildred and Fred Cannon of Cushing, has been nominated to travel to parts of Italy and Greece as a People to People Ambassador.

People to People is an organization dedicated to the promotion of world peace through increased understanding between the citizens of the world.  It was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956.

The mission statement of People to People is “To bridge cultural and political borders through education and exchange, making the world a better place for future generations.”

Students like Eric Cannon who are nominated to become ambassadors have to earn enough money to pay their own way.  Eric is asking for support from throughout the community to help make the trip to Italy and Greece possible.  Cannon said he has raised some of the money but is still short of his goal – and the deadline of May 1st is less than a week away.

Eric wrote:  “I will not be representing just the United States of America; I will be representing Oklahoma and my hometown of Yale.  I would appreciate your support and donations.”

His grandmother Mildred Cannon wrote this to KUSH:  “Eric is very fortunate and deserving to be chosen for a student ambassador and if folks would like to help sponsor our grandson, any amount for tuition would be greatly appreciated.  We thank everyone.”
Signed:  Mildred and Fred Cannon

If you would like to help Eric, please call:  918-306-1565.  His tuition must be paid in full by May 1st.
