(Stillwater, Okla.)  In a press release from Governor-elect Mary Fallin, Payne County residents are being encouraged to participate in the “Feeding Oklahoma” Food Drive organized by her inaugural committee.  Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the two BancFirst locations in Stillwater – 808 S. Main or 505 E. Hall of Fame.

“This food drive is a great way that we can show off the Oklahoma Spirit that makes this such a special place to live and raise a family,” Fallin said. “Oklahomans are the most caring and giving people in the country, and I’m asking our citizens to once again reach out and help their neighbors.”

Non-perishable items such as canned meats, meat-based soups, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, rice and beans are considered the “most needed” food items.  However, those who are unable to reach a food donation drop-off or simply choose to make a donation, can contribute to the food drive by texting “OK” to 27722 (each text will be an automatic donation of $10 – standard text message rates will apply) or online at www.feedoklahoma.org.  All food donations will be delivered to the local branch of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma by December 31st and will then be distributed to those in need in Payne County.

Chesapeake Energy has generously offered to match any donations to the Regional Food Bank – up to $100,000 – until December 31st.  Normally, every $1 pays for 7 meals for those in need.  But through this matching gift challenge, every $1 will provide 14 meals.

The “Feeding Oklahoma” Drive runs throughout the entire month of December.  Your help will be greatly appreciated!
