(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 35-year-old man from Glencoe has been given a 10-year prison term for child sexual abuse at a rural Stillwater residence that he shared with a woman who became suspicious of him.

Ricky Scott Stokes has been jailed since his arrest in Blackwell five months ago, court records show.

Stokes was ordered last week at his sentencing by Payne County Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler to register as a sex offender for life.

On his release from prison, Stokes will be on probation for 15 years. Stokes had pleaded guilty earlier this month.

The mother of a young girl met with Payne County Sheriff’s Investigator Rockford Brown on Aug. 8, 2019, at the sheriff’s office.

She said she had been in a relationship with Stokes “and recently became suspicious that he may be a child predator,” the investigator’s affidavit said.

“The mother observed multiple searches on Stokes’ phone in the internet history for incestual relationships on pornographic websites,” and used her phone to take photos of the searches that she provided to the investigator, the affidavit said.

Due to her concern, the mother asked two children under the age of 12, to whom Stokes had access when they lived in rural Payne County, if Stokes had inappropriately touched them in any way, the affidavit said. One girl disclosed sexual abuse by Stokes, the affidavit said.

During a forensic interview at the Saville Center in Stillwater on Aug. 9, 2019, “The child disclosed being touched between the legs and rubbed with force both over and under the clothing,” on more than one occasion in the living room and in her bed that caused her pain, the affidavit said.

Her brother, who had a separate bed from her in their room, “disclosed seeing Stokes come into the bedroom at night, go to (the girl’s) bed and put his hand under the blanket,” the affidavit said.

Two years ago, Stokes had pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana in an infant’s presence in Glencoe in 2017 after prior felony convictions, for which he was placed on seven years’ probation with an order to undergo random drug tests, have a substance abuse evaluation, perform any recommended follow-up, take a parenting class, and do 50 hours of community service, court records show.

Stokes had also been convicted of domestic assault and battery in 2013, grand larceny in 2011, and possessing stolen property in 2011, all in Pawnee County, for which he was given three concurrent three-year prison terms, but only served three months before his release in 2014, state Department of Corrections records show.

Stokes had also been convicted of possessing stolen property in 2011 in Payne County, for which he was placed on three years’ probation in 2012, DOC records show.
