(Stillwater, Okla.) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Glencoe man who is accused of altering a Cushing woman’s check for $120 to $420, in both numerals and wording, and cashing it at a Cushing bank.

If convicted of second-degree forgery, Christopher Ryan Bair, 25, could be given as much as a seven-year prison term, court records show.

Cushing Police Detective Adam Harp wrote in an affidavit that the victim told Sgt. Jack Ford on June 7 that she had contracted with Bair for private health care for her husband on May 14.

The victim said that they agreed that Bair would be paid $120 for eight hours of care, the affidavit said.

She said “she wrote Bair a check in the amount of $120 and found out that he had forged the check making the amount on the check for $420,” the affidavit alleged.

“Sgt. Ford looked at the check where it appeared that Bair had changed the amount making the one into a four and changing out the written one to a written four,” the affidavit alleged.

“The name endorsed on the back of the check appears as Chris Bair,” the affidavit said.

On June 8, the Cushing police detective was shown a security video that showed a small silver car at the time that the check was cashed in the drive-through at the Bank of Cushing — that was driven by a man resembling Bair, the affidavit said.

The following day, the Cushing police detective talked to Bair at his Glencoe residence, the affidavit said.

“Bair admitted that he had altered the check because he needed to pay bills due to him not working and being disabled,” the affidavit alleged.
