George William Cline, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 97 years.

Graveside services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 22, 2010 in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Phillip Vinson officiating.

The son of the late Roy Cline and Ella (Pruitt) Cline, George was born on November 29, 1912 in Bunch, OK.  He grew up in Stillwell, oK and attended the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, OK.  George was united in marriage to Mary Avis Burnett in February of 1935 in Tahlequah, OK and the couple eventually moved to Cushing in 1967.  Mary preceded George in death on June 19, 1992.  While living in Cushing, George was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC).

Survivors include two sons, Charles Cline and his wife Linda of Cushing and Neil Cline and his wife Sue of Cushing; one daughter Carol Wert and her husband Alan of Carlisle, PA; seven grandchildren, Cary Cline of Cushing, Amy Cline of Cushing, Christopher Cline of Jacksonville, FL, Chad Cline of Jacksonville, FL, Craig Cline of Jacksonville, FL, John Beaver of Cushing, OK, and Georgianna Skarlatos of Baltimore, MD; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
