George Willard Brooks, age 60 of Cushing, went home to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, March 10, 2009 at the family home. His funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon, March 13, 2009 at the Big Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor John Holderread officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.

Mr. Brooks was born on April 15, 1948 in Yazoo City, Mississippi the son of Gus Willard and Louise (Franklin) Brooks. He graduated from High School and was united in marriage to Sue Williamson on February 2, 1975 in Houma, Louisiana. He came to Cushing in June of 2000 from Montana. He was a member and assistant moderator and deacon at the Big Creek Church of the Brethren. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing golf, hunting, fishing and his family. He worked as a Construction Manager in Environmental Oil and Gas.

George is survived by his wife Sue of the home; one son, Larry G. Aycock and wife Sharon K. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, K atina Ann Brooks of Oklahoma City, Okla.; mother, Louise Brooks of Yazoo City, Mississippi; two brothers, Joseph Brooks of St. Joe, Arkansas and Newton Brooks of Houma, Louisiana; one grandson, Joseph Willard Bullock of Granberry, Texas, several other grandchildren and relatives.ʼ

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
