Former Yale man sentenced to five years in prison for identity theft in Cushing

 STILLWATER — A former Yale resident, who failed to appear in court six months ago for sentencing on multiple felony charges after being terminated from Payne County Drug Court, has been given a five-year prison term for using a Washington man’s identity on May 21, 2024, and a Texas woman’s identity on May 25, 2024, to rent a room at the Executive Inn & Suites in Cushing.

   The sentence for Marcus Jack Spradlin, 29, was ordered by Payne County District Judge Jason Reese on Aug. 14 to run concurrently with a five-year prison term he was given five months ago for false personation in Tulsa County in 2025.

   Spradlin was given a concurrent two years in prison by the Payne County judge for obtaining four tires worth $1,232 from Firestone Tires in Stillwater on Dec. 27, 2023, by fraudulently using an account belonging to a woman living in Philadelphia, Pa., and ordered to pay $2,175 for restitution and costs.

   Spradlin was also given a seven-year suspended sentence by the Payne County judge for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute in rural Yale on May 11, 2023, and ordered to comply with the methamphetamine registry, court records show.

   Spradlin’s mobile home in the Quail Crossing RV Park east of Highway 18 on 44th Street in rural Yale was searched on a federal warrant by FBI agents and Payne County Sheriff’s Investigator Brandon Myers.

   Spradlin, who previously lived in Cushing, was “suspected of using the dark web and a marketplace on the dark web to commit identity theft and bank fraud,” Myers’ affidavit alleged.

   During the search, FBI agents and the sheriff’s investigator found 20.05 grams of a crystal substance that field-tested as methamphetamine, the affidavit said.

   Spradlin was originally charged with trafficking methamphetamine on May 11, 2023, but that was reduced to possessing the drug with intent to distribute when he was ordered to enroll in and successfully complete the Payne County Drug Court program on Aug. 23, 2024, from which he was terminated on Jan. 21, 2026, after repeatedly failing to appear in court, records show.
