(Stillwater) — An ex-convict who served time for possessing methamphetamine in Cushing has been charged with possessing marijuana while he was parked in an Oklahoma State University parking lot last week.
Jimmy Wayne Fulton, 29, of Coyle, was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia in the alleged April 12 incident that was investigated by OSU police.
Fulton appeared at his arraignment without an attorney and was ordered to return to court May 6. He remains free on $10,000 bond, court records show.
Fulton, who formerly lived in Cushing, was released from prison 18 months ago after serving about one and one-half years of a five-year sentence that he was given in 2007 for possessing methamphetamine in Cushing in 2003, state Department of Corrections records show.
Fulton also served about six months of a two-year prison term for bail jumping in Lincoln County in 2005, DOC records show.
Fulton also served about 18 months of two five-year prison terms that he received in Lincoln County in 2006 for possessing the painkilling drug, Lortab, and also possessing marijuana, both in 2004, DOC records show.
Four months ago In Payne County, Fulton pleaded guilty to placing a harassing phone call to a Cushing man in October and obstructing an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper in the Cushing area, along with speeding in July at State Highway 33 and Oak Grove Road, court records show.
Fulton was given a 30-day jail term and $100 fine for obstructing the officer, and ordered to pay court costs and incarceration fees for placing a harassing phone call, as part of a plea bargain on the misdemeanor charges, court records show.
If convicted of the felony charge of possessing marijuana within 1,000 feet of OSU, Fulton could be given as much as a 10-year prison term and a $10,000 fine. If convicted of the misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia, Fulton could receive a $1,000 fine and one year of incarceration, court records show.
