What a morning in Cushing America! I want to say THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who showed up big this morning to support Cushing Pride! At last count, some 77 people said, “I’m in!” this morning at City Hall prior to the launch. The volunteer core was such that we were able to complete 4 projects throughout Cushing which included the median in front of Walmart. The spirit of community was apparent this morning amongst all who gathered.
I want to thank the following corporate sponsor’s who showed up big this morning: Enbridge Energy, Republic Services, Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA), and Fechner Pump & Supply, Inc. Each of these community partners made supplies available in the way of either gloves, trash bags, safety vests, etc. More importantly, each organization also had volunteer team members present to help with this mornings initiative.
Thank you to our team of public safety professionals: Chief Chris Pixler, Chief Tully Folden, Deputy Chief Derek Griffith, and Deputy Chief Charles Claxton. They ensured high visibility in areas where large amounts of traffic was present to keep our volunteer core safe.
As we reflect on today in the coming days, I hope you take great satisfaction in knowing you helped US make a huge difference today. Transformation was apparent when the areas were completed. If we take this giant leap and begin to replicate OURSELVES in other volunteers and take the steps necessary to build the necessary relationships within our neighborhoods we can begin to see citywide transformation take place before our very eyes. You experienced true community this morning and when many gather for a common cause it is apparent great things will happen.
What is your next project idea? Yes, what is YOUR next project idea? Want to adopt-a-block? Share it me! We are eager to keep this going.
On behalf of City Manager Steve Spears, Vice-Chairman Don Amon, and Commissioner Trace Rowe, I want to THANK YOU again for coming out this morning. You help us make the difference and it another testament that WE can accomplish infinitely more together than apart!
Our best days are ahead, Terry
