(Cushing, Okla.)  Starting Monday, Feb. 2nd at 7 a.m. until Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 at 4 p.m. those qualified may file as a candidate for either Seat No. 1 or Seat No. 2 of the Cushing Board of Commissioners.  Seat No. 1 is currently held by Evert Rossiter and Seat No. 2 by Joe Manning.  Manning has announced he will not run for re-election.

Those interested in filing for the positions should complete a Statement of Condidacy from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Feb. 2nd – Feb. 4th) in City Clerk, Jerrica Kahle’s office located in City Hall, 100 Judy Adams Boulevard, Cushing. 

According to the City Charter, candidates:

Must be at least 25 years old

Must be a qualified elector of the city.

Cannot be in litigation with the city nor in arrears for city taxes when elected, nor the owner of any stock or bonds of any public service corporation doing business under any franchise in the City of Cushing.

Must have been for one year next preceding election a bona fide resident of the City of Cushing or the territory legally annexed thereto.

Successful candidates will each serve three-year terms.  If more than two candidates file for any one of the offices, a primary election will be held March3, 2015.  The General Election is scheduled for April 7, 2015.
