(Cushing, Okla.)  The Cushing Chamber of Commerce Business After School honoring February’s recipients was held on Monday, March 2, 2015. Business After School is a Chamber program that honors Cushing’s education community.

Each month, one educator, one support staff and two high school seniors are honored. A reception is held at 4 p.m. in the Cushing Chamber of Commerce board room the last Monday of each school month (with the exception of September and December). Receptions are open to the public.

Those honored for the month of February were: Brenda Bullard, teacher; Rachael Coates, support staff, Mallori Baker, CHS senior and Tyler Watkins, CHS senior

A little bit about the honorees:

Brenda Bullard teaches fourth and fifth science at Sunnyside Elementary. She has been married for 28 years and has two children. She loves spending time with her family and friends, cooking and would love to go on an Alaskan cruise during the summer. Her greatest joy as a teacher is watching the students grow with knowledge and asking more advanced questions about our world.

Rachael Coates is the secretary at Cushing High School. Her husband of 14 1/2 years teaches history at CHS. Rachel enjoys making jewelry, painting, crafts and shopping. She would love to travel to Italy. She enjoys watching the Oklahoma City Thunder and would like to spend the day with them at the playoffs. Rachael said the greatest part of her job is working with some great people.

Mallori Baker, CHS senior, is the daughter of Jeff and Quita Baker. She has a sister Cade and brother Jared. Her hobbies include making art and using her creativity to help decorate. Mallori is the Valedictorian for the 2015 graduating class and has been accepted to Oklahoma State University. She has been a wrestling matmaid for four years, volunteers for Special Olympics and Relay For Life. Mallori says she is a very good people person, a pretty good leader and walks to her own beat. In five years, she sees herself finishing up dental hygene school.

Tyler Watkins, CHS senior, is the son of Travis Watkins, Cushing and mother Johnna Watkins of Stillwater. His siblings are Abby and Tucker. Tyler enjoys sports and reading action packed books. In his free time, he likes to hang out with friends. His favorite food is sushi. In five years, Tyler sees himself at OU Medical School studying to be a pediatric assistant.
