(Cushing) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified two men killed in a three vehicle traffic accident early this morning west of Cushing.
The OHP says Antonio Orlando Torres, 24, of Cushing died at the scene of the accident west of Cushing of massive injuries. Also pronounced dead at the scene was Michel Paul Geren, 30, of Agra.
A third accident victim was transported by ambulance to Cushing Regional Hospital, and her condition has not been released. The woman is identified as a 60 year old Glencoe woman who was the driver of a school bus for Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater.
According to the accident report from the OHP, a 1999 GMC Pickup truck driven by Torres eastbound on Highway 33 attempted to pass the school bus and another vehicle behind it when it struck head on a 1993 Ford Pickup driven by Geren. The pickup driven by Torres then struck the school bus in the drivers side door.
The report says that freeing the fatality victims from the wreckage took more than two hours for Cushing Fire and Rescue personnel. The accident occurred at 7:10 Friday morning 4/10 of a mile west of the Highway 33/18 junction. The pickup driven by Torres was equipped with an airbag and it did deploy, while the pickup driven by Geren was not equipped with an airbag. The school bus was equipped with an airbag but it did not deploy.
