The following information is a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety.
(Stillwater, Okla.) A fatality accident occurred on February 5, 2019 on US 177 and Lake McMurtry Rd, approximately 1/2 mile north of Stillwater.
Approximately 3:10pm, a 2014 Dodge, driven by Jazmen Aryes Shaw, 21, of Tulsa, was heading westbound on Lake McMurtry Road when she failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck in the driver door by a 2013 Ford Fusion, which was driven by Berna Dineo Heilmann, 58, of Red Rock.
Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene from head injury. Heilmann was transported by LifeNet to Stillwater Medical Center, then transferred to OU Medical Center and admitted in stable condition with leg and trunk internal injuries.
According to the DPS report, seat belts were in use by both drivers. The cause of the collision was failure to yield at a stop sign.
