(Stillwater, Okla.) — Stillwater police were continuing today to investigate a fatal shooting in the head of a 21-year-old man at a Stillwater party shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The victim, Alexander Vierling, was transported by ambulance to the Stillwater Medical Center and later transferred to an Oklahoma City hospital where he died Sunday.
“Initial reports indicate the shooting occurred when one of the partygoers was handling a pistol they thought was a toy,” Stillwater Police Cpt. Randy Dickerson said in a news release.
The shooting occurred in the 500 block of S. West Street where several college-age males and females were attending a party at an apartment, the news release said.
