(Stillwater, Okla.) — Just before 3:30 p.m. Monday, Stillwater police
responded to a reported armed robbery at Pleasant Pool Supply located at
1411 N. Cimarron Plaza, a news release said.The store clerk, and reported victim of the robbery, told officers that
someone wearing all-black clothing, a mask and sunglasses robbed her at
gunpoint and took a small amount of cash before running eastbound from the
store, a police news release said.

Stillwater High School is located directly across the street from
Pleasant Pool Supply.

Stillwater police notified school officials, who put the high school on
Shelter-in-Place status as a precaution while officers searched the area,
the news release said.

Officers searched the area around the school and to the north for the
suspect. Extra officers were present in the school parking lots while the
search was underway.

As the investigation continued, officers discovered evidence and
information indicating the reported armed robbery was a false report, the
police news release said.

The clerk, 23-year-old Shanette Melana Stokes of Stillwater, was
arrested for false reporting of a crime and embezzlement by an employee, the
police news release said. Stokes was taken into custody and booked at the
Stillwater City jail.
