(Cushing, Ok.) — Authorities were continuing this morning to search for an ex-convict accused of running over a Cushing man and throwing a rock through the window of his house on E. Walnut Street, court records show.

The victim had wounds on his left arm and shoulder, according to an affidavit by Cushing Police Officer David Smith.

The alleged assailant, Gerald Ray Walker, 38, of Cushing, who has also used the surname of Norfolk and the full name of Jeremiah Alan Walker, had sold the victim a vehicle that recently was impounded, the affidavit said.

The victim said he “assumed the altercation that happened was over the vehicle,” the affidavit alleged.

Cushing police had been sent at 4:23 pm on Sept. 21 to the victim’s residence where three witnesses said a man had run over the victim, the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “Gerald came over to his residence and was banging on his front door,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “he told Gerald to leave; Gerald refused and became more irate,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “he grabbed a knife for self-defense if he were to need it, but held it behind his back to conceal it from Gerald,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “he stepped onto his lawn when Gerald had then accelerated his car in an attempt to run him over,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “he did not have enough time to move out of the way, but was able to jump up,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “Gerald hit him with the car; he landed on Gerald’s windshield causing it to shatter,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim said “he did not know what had happened to the knife at this point, but ran inside his house to get away from Gerald,” who then threw a brick into his bedroom window, the affidavit alleged.

Cushing Police Sgt. Carson Watts, who contacted Walker at his house on W. Joe Johnson Street, said Walker claimed the victim “had thrown the knife at him, but in retaliation he hit (the victim) with his car,” the affidavit alleged.

Sgt. Watts said, “Gerald was currently in the house using the restroom after briefly talking to the officers,” the affidavit alleged.

Sgt. Watts said, “family members had advised Gerald to come out of the residence multiple times before they left to go to Oklahoma City,” the affidavit alleged.

“Sgt. Watts and I knocked on the door several times in an attempt to get Gerald to come outside. However, we were unsuccessful,” Officer Smith wrote in the affidavit.

“It was undetermined if Gerald fled out of the back of the residence or was just refusing to cooperate,” the affidavit said.

According to the state Department of Corrections, Walker was released from prison seven years ago after serving about half of a two-year prison term for carrying contraband into a jail in Atoka County in 2011.

Walker had previously served about four years of three concurrent five-year prison terms from 2008 Tulsa County convictions for drug possession within 2000 feet of a park or school, false personation, and drug possession, DOC records show.

Walker had also served four years and seven months of a five-year prison term from a 2002 Tulsa County conviction for assault with intent to commit a felony, DOC records show.
