(Stillwater, Okla.) — An ex-convict from Stillwater was charged Monday with trafficking in methamphetamine, possessing a drug with intent to distribute, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing drug proceeds and having drug paraphernalia, all on July 30 in Stillwater.

Carl Bryan Estes, 30, who was released from prison a year ago after serving concurrent sentences in four separate methamphetamine cases, was ordered held in the Payne County Jail on $250,000 bail, court records show.

Prior to his arrest last week, Estes had been charged with possessing the drugs alprazolam, xanax, morphine and methamphetamine — which were found in his shoes at the Payne County Jail on March 15, 2010, following a traffic stop on Highway 177 by Sheriff’s Deputy Jared Noles, court records show.

In that drug case, Estes was given a seven-year prison term of which he served less than half before he was released in August 2013, state Department of Corrections records show.

Two years before that incident, Estes was arrested for shoplifting a radar detector at the Stillwater Walmart on 6th Street when he also was charged with possessing methamphetamine and a smoking pipe, all on March 10, 2008, court records show.

Three months later in that case, Estes was ordered into the Bill Johnson Drug Offender Work Camp on a 10-year prison term, of which the judge said he would suspend the balance if Estes completed the program.

Estes apparently was released from prison about a year later and placed on probation, which he was found in violation the following year when he was sent back to prison in 2010, court records show.

Estes had also been arrested in January 2007 after Stillwater police served a search warrant at his residence where methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found, court records show.

In that case, Estes was given a concurrent 10-year prison term with an order to complete the Bill Johnson Drug Offender Work Camp. A year later, his sentence was changed to probation, which was revoked in 2010 to prison from which he was released in August 2013.

Eight years ago, Estes was charged with possessing methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstacy, alprazolam, and drug paraphernalia after the District Attorney’s Drug Task Force served a search warrant at his Perkins residence in August 2006.

In 2008, Estes was given a concurrent 10-year prison term with an order to complete the Bill Johnson Drug Offender Work Camp. A year later, his sentence was changed to probation, which was revoked in 2010 to prison from which he was released in August 2013, court records show.

According to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records, Estes also was convicted of drug possession in Florida in 2000 and 2001. He also had a 2000 conviction for assault and/or battery with a dangerous weapon in Florida, DOC records show.
