(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Cushing woman with a 25-year history of drug convictions was charged today with possessing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of Memorial Park in Cushing on Aug. 31.
Cheryl Ann Pennington, 56, remains free on $10,000 bail pending an Oct. 14 court appearance on the felony charge that carries as much as a 20-year prison term and $10,000 fine on conviction.
According to state Department of Corrections records, Pennington served about five and one-half years of a seven-year prison term for drug distribution in Payne County in 1988. She was released in 1994.
Four years later, Pennington was convicted of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possesson of a police scanner, maintaining a house where drugs were kept and cultivating marijuana in Payne County in 1998. She was placed on 10 years’ probation, DOC records show.
While she was still on probation in that case, Pennington was convicted in 2004 of drug possession, carrying contraband into a jail and false personation in Rogers County, for which she was placed on three years’ probation, DOC records show.***
