Evelyn M. Fair, age 78 a longtime Cushing resident passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at her home in Cushing.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Cushing.  Rev. David Burgess and Rev. Johnson Vickers will officiate.  Interment will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing, Oklahoma.

Evelyn was born on May 18, 1933 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Willie and Ida (Davis) Miller.  She grew up in Cushing and attended Booker T. Washington.  She met Kenneth Thompson and gained a son Donnie and also to this union, three children were born, Sharon, Brenda and Richard.  Evelyn worked at Christines as a cook for a few years, then worked at Valley Hope as a housekeeper for over ten years, and then went into private home care for the elderly.  She was a member of the CME Methodist Church.  Evelyn married Archie Fair in 1980.  They spent many wonderful years together.  Evelyn enjoyed sewing, pottery, ceramics and especially cooking for her family and others.  Her hobbies were collecting cigarette lighters, ear rings and other items.  Evelyn loved spending time with her family, loved to laugh and would give the shirt off her back to someone in need.

She loved listening to the blues.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Sharon Thompson of Cushing, Brenda Davis and finance’ Benjamin Honeybuss of Cushing, sons Richard (Miller) Thompson of Cushing, Donnie Hagler and wife Anita of Edmond, sisters Helen Bray of Cushing, Blanche Jackson of Billings, Montana, Aunt Coree Steele of Lawton, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and numerous relatives and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Willie C. and Oscar, and sister Joann Syms.
