Eunice May (West) McGinnis, lifelong Cushing area resident, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2011 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 84 years.
The daughter of the late A.R. West and Lydia White West, Eunice was born on November 4, 1927 near Cushing, in Lincoln County. She attended elementary through eighth grade at Independence School (rural Payne County) and graduated from Ripley High School in 1946.
She was united in marriage to Carroll McGinnis on June 29, 1947 in the home of her parent’s. To this union two children, Ray and Ann, were born.
Eunice attended the First Church of God and was a very devoted Christian. She was very proud of the American Legion Award she received in 8th grade and High School. She played the accordion and was involved in many activities. Through the years she cared for many ill, lovingly cared for children in home and served as the nursery worker at church for many years. Though legally blind, Eunice excelled in life.
Survivors include her husband of over 64 years, Carroll, of the home; one son, Ray McGinnis and his wife Tricia of Cushing; grandchildren, Brent McGinnis and his wife Briana of Edmond and Traci Bonhomme of Oklahoma City; great grandchildren, Alex, Tori, Averie and Paige; two sisters, Christine Tidwell and her husband Mel of Tyler, TX, and Nila Murrow and her husband Wayne of Bethany; one brother Bob West and his wife Arvilla of Stillwater, and many nieces, nephews and other family including Kari Worsham and her husband Warren of Dallas, TX.
Eunice was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia White West; her father, Aubra Ray West; step-mother, Eula Corbin West; her daughter, Ann Irene Bonhomme; one grandson, Scott Aubra McGinnis; one brother, Kenneth Ray West and one infant sister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Church of God with Pastor Kevin Clouse officiating.
Burial will follow in the Flynn Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God or to Good Shepherd Hospice in her memory. A special thanks to the Linwood Village Nursing Home for many years of loving and excellent care.
