(Stillwater, Okla.) — An embezzlement charge against an Agra man, who was originally scheduled to appear in court this week, has been dropped by the Payne County District Attorney’s Office, court records show.
Lonnie James Morris, 50, who had been accused of embezzling $1,165 worth of property and money from Calvin’s Wrecker Service in rural Cushing while he was an employee on May 5, 2021, “has returned the items and paid outstanding restitution,” according to court records.
Morris was originally accused of taking a tow ticket book, credit card, Apple iPhone, weed eater and monies due for tows, impounds and tolls from the business, court records show.
Payne County Sheriff’s Investigator Brandon Myers had been contacted on May 14, 2021, by the owner of Calvin’s Wrecker “wanting to pursue embezzlement charges against an ex-employee, Lonnie Morris,” according to an affidavit.
“Lonnie was one of his wrecker drivers out of his Cushing yard. Lonnie’s last day of employment was 5/5/2021. Lonnie was terminated, yet he has not returned several items belonging to Calvin’s Wrecker,” the affidavit alleged when the felony embezzlement charge was filed last August.
The case was dismissed against Morris on Jan. 26 by Associate District Judge Stephen Kistler on the request of the prosecution, court records show.
