Services were held Friday, Feb. 19th, 2010 for Edwin Donald “Ed” Pippenger of Ada. He died Feb. 15, 2010 at the age of 91 years old.
Ed was born Aug. 26, 1918 in Cushing to Simon C. and Lottie Jones Pippenger. He was a Cushing High School graduate and later became a clerk in the pipeline office of Sun Oil Company, where he worked until his retirement.
On March 14, 1940, he married Laverne Cook. On June 5, 1996, he married Marcelene Collier.
He was a member of the Tecumseh First Christian Church, the Allen Lodge AF & AM No. 81 and was a 32nd degree Mason. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marcelene Pippenger, of the home; a son, Mike Pippenger, Ada; two grandsons, Jeremy Pippenger and wife Jennifer, Ada, and Matthew Pippenger and wife Meghan, Wilmore, Ky.; two great-grandsons, Jaken and Jaxen Pippenger; three stepsons, Wes Collier and wife Marilyn, Oklahoma City, Ron Collier and wife Fredia, Oklahoma City and Dennis Collier and wife Wanda, McAlester; a stepdaughter, Linda Chambers and husband Neil, Oklahoma City; and one brother, Lawrence Pippenger and wife Ann, Cushing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; a son, Gary Pippenger; five brothers, Charels, Pippenger, Everett Pippenger, John Pippenger, Lewis Pippenger and Melivn Pippenger; and three sisters, Faustina Hicks, Gladys Martin and Laveta Glover.
Services under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home in Ada were held at the First Christian Church of Cushing with the Rev. Larry Haney officiating.
Burial was in Fairlawn-New Zion Cemetery.
