Edna Marie Elmore, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Golden Rule Nursing Home, Shawnee, Ok. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Cushing, Ok. Rev. David Burgess will officiate. Interment will follow at Silver Star Cemetery, Cushing, Ok.

Edna Marie (Brown) Elmore was born July 19, 1936 to Reola Brown and Marie (Jackson) Brown. She was the youngest of five children. She was a lifelong member of Macedonia C.M.E. (Christian Methodist Episcopal) Church.
Edna graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1954. She attended Langston University and Vocational Technical School in Drumright Oklahoma.
Edna was employed by the Cushing Public Schools for twenty-six years. She worked as a teacher’s assistant. Her diligence and compassion for her students earned her several commendations and certificates. She retired in 1996.
Edna was an avid sports fan. She attended every Cushing High School basketball game and track meet in which her son Tim and daughter Tammy were athletes. Edna was the only parent to ride with the team on the team bus. She also loved watching the Oklahoma Thunder and the Oklahoma Sooners. Game days she often wore her Thunder or Sooner apparel.
Edna was preceded in death by her father and mother, Reola and Marie; her brother Bobby; and her sisters, Peggy, Imogene, and Betty.
Left to cherish her memories are her three children; daughters Lynn Rucker (Rudy), Tammy Cotton (James) and son Tim, her grandchildren; Kevin, Tejana, Amber, Trey, Tevin, and J’Mee; and great grandchildren Riley, Kingston, and Bethany and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
