(Drumright, Okla.)  Visitors to Drumright this week may notice something a little different as the Relay for Life team from Citizen’s Insurance Agency and Cupcakes Makes Me Happy invite everyone to “Turn Drumright Purple for the Cure”!

The week long event is their way of educating school children and bring awareness to the City of Drumright by “promoting healthy choices and fundraising” for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life of Cushing 2012.

The event is kicked off on Monday, April 9th, by inviting every Drumright business, every home and every classroom to go PURPLE for the week!

Tuesday is “TATA Tuesday” as team members will “Fill the Cup” at Broadway and Penn.  Cinnamon rolls will be available starting at 7 a.m. for just $2.

Wednesday, April 11th, The Nazarene Church will host an Ice Cream Social and Call to Prayer at 6 p.m.  There will be an old fashioned ice cream social and a service to honor survivors and ones who have gone on before.  A love offering will be accepted for the ice cream sundae.  A Luminaria table will be set up to purchase luminarias for Relay.

Thursday, April 12th will be a Pancake Flop and Ball Drop at Bradley Elementary School.  A pancake breakfast – for supper!  It begins at 6:30 p.m. with All You Can Eat Pancakes for just $5.  Ball drop tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

Friday, April 13th – a Balloon Release to honor loved ones currently fighting the fight as well as the ones who have gone on before.  The release will be at 2 p.m. from Bradley Elementary School.  Balloons are sold for $2 each.

The “Turning Drumright Purple” event will conclude on Saturday, April 14th with a Cupcake Jog/Walk 5K at 9 a.m. , a karaoke contest in the afternoon and a Concert in the Park at 7 p.m.  Booths will be selling plenty of food and FUN!  Performing at the concert –  Southern Addiction Red Dirt Band.  There is a $3 cover charge for the concert.  (Concert to be held in Whitlock Park)
