(Drumright, Okla) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Drumright couple was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a head on traffic collision Thursday night. The accident occurred east of Drumright on SH 33 about 8:15 PM. The victims have been identified as Betty Laverne Semler, 51, and Billy Ray Semler, 52, both of of Drumright. Two people were transported from the accident scene with serious injuries, they have been identified as Blakely Dale Parson, 20, of Drumright , and Darren D. Turner, 15, of Drumright.
According to the Highway Patrol, a car driven by Parson was headed east on SH 33 when he went left of center. The Semlers were headed west in a car driven by Billy Semler. Semler drove off the roadway trying to avoid Parson’s car, the patrol said. Parson’s car then struck the Semler’s vehicle head-on. Parson’s car also caught fire.
Parson was pulled from the burning vehicle by witnesses.
Turner was a passenger in the car driven by Semler.
The Highway Patrol says that all involved were wearing seat belts.
The accident occurred about a half mile east of S 513 W Avenue near Drumright.
