DRUMRIGHT, OK (September 25, 2014) — The Drumright Chamber of Commerce will host the 42nd annual “Oilpatch Jamboree” in Drumright, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 4th. The event will be packed full of family fun and entertainment, including the world-famous “Oilpatch Parade,” live music, “Jamboree Jog,” “Smokin’ In The Patch” barbeque cook-off, and many other activities for people of all ages.
The day will kick off with a Pancake Breakfast at Casey’s Place from 7:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
At 9:00 a.m., runners will line up in the parking lot on the east side of the Fire Department for the Jamboree Jog 5K run/walk, which will make its way through historic Drumright, and will culminate back at the starting point where the winners will be announced and awards presented. This year, a portion of the proceeds from the Jamboree Jog will be donated to the Drumright Historical Society Museum. At 10:00 a.m., Broadway Street will be buzzing with activities. The crowning of the “Miss” and “Jr. Miss Oilpatch” will be held at the Drumright Historical Museum while Americana and Red Dirt music artists are scheduled to perform along the avenue, including the Dustbowl Brothers featuring Rick Reiley at the Pocket Park and Slapout at the museum gazebo.
At 11:00 a.m., the Oilpatch Parade will come to life with marching bands, cheerleaders, classic automobiles, fire engines, and the largest assembly of oil field equipment anywhere in the country.
Following the parade, from approximately Noon to 2:00 p.m., the festivities will continue at Whitlock Park. Activities will include a “People’s Choice Awards” for parade winners, a Smokin’ In The Patch barbeque cook-off and $5.00 taster’s kits where people can vote for their favorites, a children’s area with blowups, food and craft vendors, and a concert by the Bo Phillips Band.
