(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man, jailed since December on $200,000 bail for allegedly possessing a drug with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, was charged last week with committing 10 prior acts of domestic violence in 2019 against his baby’s mother.
Henry Calum Emerald Trey Moon, 23, whose total bail has been increased to $220,000, has been ordered to appear in court on June 2 for a pre-trial hearing on his drug charge, court records show.
The alleged acts of domestic violence came to light in December when authorities were sent to the Stillwater Medical Center to investigate a skull fracture that the couple’s baby had received, Stillwater Police Detective Sherae LeJeune wrote in an affidavit.
The baby’s mother “reluctantly spoke of separate incidents of Henry holding a gun to her head, punching her in the face and strangling her to unconsciousness. Henry said they did get into altercations, but it was only physical when he pushed (the woman) out of their residence by her throat when she would not leave,” the affidavit alleged.
The couple “advised they were currently not in a dating relationship. They were only living together for their child,” the affidavit said.
A Department of Human Services child welfare specialist “decided it was best for their infant son to intervene and conduct a home visit. During the home visit, drugs were located inside and Henry was subsequently arrested for possession with intent to distribute,” the affidavit alleged.
The state took custody of the baby, who was placed with his maternal grandmother, according to the affidavit.
The maternal grandmother could see that her daughter was in a violent domestic relationship, the affidavit alleged.
“As a concerned parent, she documented each incident she knew about in a journal,” and also photographed her daughter’s injuries, the affidavit alleged.
The couple had broken up several times, but her daughter always returned to Moon, the affidavit said.
“There was an agreement between (the daughter and her mother) that any time she needed to be ‘rescued’ from Henry, (her mother) would pick her up and take her to a safe place,” the affidavit alleged. The daughter “did call upon her mother several times,” the affidavit alleged.
Moon has been scheduled to have preliminary hearings on May 20 on the following charges that were filed last week:
* domestic assault and battery by strangulation on Feb. 5, 2019;
* domestic assault with a handgun in the last week of June 2019, domestic assault and battery by strangulation on July 2, 2019, domestic assault and battery in the presence of a child on July 2, 2019, and threatening a violent act on July 17, 2019;
* domestic assault and battery by strangulation, second-degree robbery, and two counts of domestic assault and battery, all on Aug. 12, 2019;
* two counts of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, one on Nov. 9, 2019, and the other on Nov. 13, 2019, and a single count of domestic assault and battery on Nov. 9, 2019.
According to court records, Moon had been placed on probation on Oct. 4, 2017 for five years except for 180 days in jail for possessing marijuana with intent to distribute in 2016, but on Aug. 20, 2019, he was found in violation of his probation and ordered into the Payne County Drug Court program from which he was terminated on Feb. 14, 2020 when his probation was revoked to 180 days in jail, court records show.
