(Cushing, Okla) — Congratulations to Dr. Gary Detrich and his wife Rosalind (Roz) for being named the Grand Marshalls for the 2021 Cushing Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade!
The Detrichs have been married for 52 years and have called Cushing home since moving here in 1974. Dr. Detrich has served the community as a veterinarian for 50+ years until his retirement in November of this year.
Approximately 10 years after they took up residency in Cushing, the Detrich family started serving the public in an additional way – the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner which was held until 2020. They stopped doing it due to Covid, but are extending the opportunity for someone to take over the reins in the future.
Whether it’s taking care of people and their pets, donning elf ears to pass out candy at the annual Christmas parade or bringing people together to feed their bodies and souls, Gary and Roz Detrich both have a servant’s heart.
Serving their community is something the Detrichs and their children and grandchildren have embraced with love and a smile. And no matter what this next chapter may hold for the Detrichs, you can bet their legacy of community service will continue!
Cushing Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade will be held at 6 pm, Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, on Broadway Avenue in Downtown Cushing. This year’s theme is A Whoville Christmas. DCRA will hold its Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 5 pm in Centennial Park prior to the parade. Other festivities include the Cushing Citizen’s Merry, Merry Mooo-lah drawing at 4 pm, vendors, and a special holiday concert featuring The Imaginaries at the Dunkin Theatre at 7:30 pm.
